Hi, I’m Crystal! I am a Sydney born, London based freelance designer and illustrator. I have a background in print and textile design, graphic design, teaching illustration and design in a university setting, and product and packaging design. I have an eye for detail and a mind for making things beautiful. I love colour, texture, and making the world a more lovely place. I aim to design sustainably and ethically, and am always looking out for ways to better my practice, and better the world while I do that!
Print Design.
I have this thing with prints. After working as an in-house print designer for Australian fashion label Howard Showers, I have since focussed my attention on interior and surface print design. Each time I stretch my feelers out into another area of design, something brings me back to prints. As an illustrator with proficient use of Adobe CC, I am able to create full repeat patterns and colour-ways from scratch through to final production-ready files.
Illustration.
I have been working independently as an illustrator for the last ten years, working on small projects with businesses and bands, using my illustrations in prints whilst working as an in-house print designer, as well as progressing my own individual style. Nail Decals.
My Nail Decal business came from a desire to have cute nails for my birthday. I noticed that there seemed to be no cute decals available locally so I decided to make my own. After making and loving them so much, I designed some packaging and other styles and put them up for sale on Depop, where they have been selling consistently since March!
